Pay, location and conditions
The program describes paid work and a lump-sum housing allowance for interns who meet its distance-based criteria. It does not provide a universal hourly rate or allowance amount in the reviewed material. Qualification matters: the housing statement is not a promise that every participant receives the same payment. [2]
Internship programs
Documented student program and current opening list
Choose a function and a site together. A student seeking market analysis should not assume that any engineering opening at an LNG plant offers commercial exposure. Conversely, someone wanting equipment and process experience should not choose a headquarters role merely to obtain the company name. The value lies in the work, access to colleagues and a feasible project, not simply the corporate brand.
Pay & location
Pay, housing and geography
Houston headquarters, Gregory and Cameron are different reporting locations. Obtain the actual site address and required attendance schedule before choosing housing or transportation. A nearby city's name in a search result is not enough for a commute budget. Ask when any allowance is paid, whether it is taxable compensation, and what expenses must be funded before arrival. These are questions for the offer process, not assumptions about reimbursement policy.

What Cheniere does and why the operating chain matters
The analytical question is how a decision at one stage affects the others. A hypothetical delay in an equipment repair can affect production scheduling; a change in a delivery assumption can change a commercial comparison. Students need not arrive as LNG experts, but should be able to identify the physical process, the customer commitment and the information their team would need to make a sound decision.
Current context: do not use an outdated construction story
Cheniere announced on August 31, 2026 that its Corpus Christi Stage 3 project had achieved substantial completion on August 28, following turnover of its final train by Bechtel. It described combined operating LNG capacity of approximately 56 million tonnes per annum and additional capacity under construction. The completed Stage 3 project should not be described as still awaiting its first production based on an older company profile. [1]
For interview preparation, distinguish commissioning, steady-state operation and the evaluation of another expansion. Those phases require different questions. A useful candidate question is whether the team is primarily improving an operating asset, supporting an existing construction program or assessing a future opportunity. This is more revealing than asking generally whether the company is growing.
Houston: supply chain, communications and technology
The same headquarters list includes Supply Chain Management, Global Communications and Media Relations, and an information-technology role labeled ETRM. Those titles should remain separate rather than being collapsed into a generic corporate internship. [2]
A supply-chain candidate can demonstrate how to compare vendors when price, reliability and delivery time disagree. A communications candidate should bring evidence of accurate research and clear writing for a specific audience, not only social-media output. For a technology application, ask what the ETRM assignment actually covers and which systems or workflows the student will support. Do not infer that it is a quantitative trading position from the acronym. A strong business-technology candidate can explain how they would reconcile data between systems and help a user understand a discrepancy.
Project evidence that can distinguish an applicant
A commercial candidate could submit a brief, nonconfidential market note with a clear question, primary sources, a base case and the evidence that would overturn it. An engineering candidate could show a concise failure investigation, with the original observation, a test plan and a result that someone else could reproduce. A communications candidate could present two versions of a technical explanation for different audiences and explain the editorial choices.
Do not use a large model as a substitute for understanding. Be prepared to identify the most sensitive assumption and the weakest piece of evidence. A student who can say what the analysis cannot establish is more credible than one who converts every scenario into a precise forecast. These are suggested portfolio approaches, not company-prescribed application requirements.
Who should prioritize Cheniere
The trade-off is specialization: a plant assignment may be excellent preparation for operational energy work but less direct preparation for consumer-product management; a headquarters market role may not deliver hands-on engineering exposure. Resolve that choice before optimizing for the employer name. Ask who owns the summer project, what output a successful intern produced previously, and whether the team has time to teach the missing domain knowledge.
Connect a physical constraint with a commercial consequence
Create an educational scenario in which a planned delivery or maintenance window changes. Separate the physical schedule from the commercial cash-flow effect. State which information you would need from engineering, operations or the commercial team before recommending a response. Do not turn the model into operating instructions or imply access to live trading decisions.
Hypothetical preparation exercise, not an employer assessment or a verified internship assignment.
Interview evidence: useful but dated
Prepare to discuss your own projects and explain the reasoning behind them. For technical roles, articulate the test and the failure mode. For business roles, explain the assumption and the decision. Ask recruiting whether the current process includes a technical case, modeling exercise or presentation rather than borrowing a sequence from an old generic intern account.
Liquefaction sites: engineering and operational learning
The site lists span production, process and mechanical or electrical engineering, with reliability, controls, safety and related work. Sabine Pass also lists a combined Business Planning/PGPA/Accounting internship. The page does not establish that every student can rotate between all functions. [2]
For a process or reliability application, prepare an example showing how you investigated a failure or variation while preserving a reliable record of the evidence. Explain when you escalated rather than guessed. A business student considering the Sabine Pass posting should clarify the meaning of its combined title, the principal supervisor and the expected output. Site-based business work can be analytically useful, but it is not automatically the same as headquarters corporate strategy.
Ask about the induction required before entering operational areas and how the project can proceed if site access is delayed. These are due-diligence questions, not assertions about a particular safety credential or schedule.
Understanding earnings without confusing metrics
The company's August 6, 2026 second-quarter release reports revenue, net income, adjusted EBITDA and distributable cash flow as different measures. A student discussing the business should preserve those labels instead of selecting whichever figure sounds most impressive. The release is a source for financial context, not an internship-pay source. [5]
A useful preparation exercise is to explain why accounting earnings, operating cash generation and cash available for a particular purpose can differ. Build the explanation from definitions and timing rather than asserting that one measure is universally superior. For an internship presentation, identify the decision the audience is making before choosing the metric. An operating improvement, a commercial contract and a financing decision may require different evidence.
Research context
Cheniere is an LNG producer and exporter headquartered in Houston. Its description of its business covers gas procurement and transportation, liquefaction, vessel chartering and LNG delivery, with Gulf Coast facilities at Sabine Pass and Corpus Christi. An applicant should understand this chain rather than describe the employer simply as an oil-and-gas company. A commercial model and a plant reliability assignment address different parts of the same delivery system. [1]
