Pay, location and conditions
The evidence reviewed does not support one Omnicom intern pay rate, relocation policy or work-mode standard. Agency internships can be in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and other major markets, but exact location depends on the hiring business. International agency programs should not be used as evidence for U.S. pay or eligibility.
Pay & location
Pay, locations and work mode
Because internships are decentralized, students should capture compensation from the exact posting or offer. The same applies to hybrid expectations. An Omnicom Media office schedule does not establish a policy for an Omnicom Health or PR agency internship.
Agency economics also make location costs important. A New York internship can carry meaningful housing and commuting costs. Compare offers on net economics and project quality rather than brand alone. Ask whether the internship is hourly or salaried, whether overtime is expected, whether commuting or client travel is reimbursed and whether relocation assistance exists.

Company brief: an agency holding company after the Interpublic acquisition
Omnicom is not a single advertising agency with one uniform internship program. It is a global marketing and sales company built around networks, agencies and specialized capabilities. That structure became even broader after Omnicom completed its acquisition of Interpublic on November 26, 2025. The combined organization now includes legacy Omnicom businesses and major former Interpublic brands across media, advertising, public relations, health, commerce, experiential, data and consulting.
For students, the consequence is simple: the parent-company name is useful for understanding the ecosystem, but the actual employer and internship are often an agency, network or specialist business. A candidate should preserve the exact hiring brand and team instead of describing every agency role as “an Omnicom internship.” The work, culture, portfolio and interview process can vary substantially between Omnicom Media, Omnicom Health, a creative agency, a public-relations business or a commerce specialist.
Omnicom’s current career page describes Connected Capabilities spanning media, commerce, consulting, precision marketing, advertising, production, health, public relations, branding and experiential. That is the best starting taxonomy for student research. It explains why the company can be relevant to majors far beyond traditional advertising: analytics, data science, business, statistics, finance, design, communications, psychology, computer science and healthcare-related disciplines can all map into parts of the network.
Recruiting model and application strategy
The Omnicom network requires a two-level application strategy. First, decide which capability you want: media, health, advertising, PR, commerce, experiential, branding, production or consulting. Second, identify the agency or network hiring that function in your target location. Applying at the parent level without resolving the operating business can lead to vague preparation and missed roles.
Omnicom Media’s career site routes candidates by market, including the United States. Other businesses maintain separate careers pages and applicant systems. Students should create a simple tracker that records parent, operating agency, role, city, application URL and status. This prevents duplicate applications and makes networking more precise.
There is no supported one-date Omnicom internship deadline in the evidence reviewed. Hiring can occur at different times by agency and program. Search frequently during the fall and winter, but also continue into spring because agency staffing can be tied to client demand and local programs.
Current context: the 2025 Interpublic combination changes the employer map
The Interpublic transaction matters for internship research because the roster of brands and networks changed. Omnicom’s post-close strategy materials describe a larger media ecosystem and a broader data foundation, including Acxiom and legacy Interpublic agency brands. By 2026, Omnicom Media’s public leadership page includes global brands such as OMD, Initiative, UM and PHD, a visible sign that legacy networks are being organized inside the combined platform.
Students should therefore be cautious with older career guides that treat Omnicom and Interpublic as separate universes. A 2024 list of “Omnicom agencies” is incomplete for 2026. At the same time, organizational integration does not mean every agency has lost its own hiring identity. The direct careers route still points candidates into specific markets and businesses.
This is also an integration year. Omnicom said in February 2026 that it was simplifying and aligning the portfolio while pursuing large cost synergies following the acquisition. That creates both opportunity and uncertainty. New integrated teams can offer exposure to cross-network work, data and platform consolidation, but roles and reporting lines may also change. Candidates should verify the current agency, manager and team rather than relying on an old org chart.
Where internships actually appear
The direct Omnicom parent careers page is an ecosystem gateway rather than a complete student-internship inventory. Omnicom Media operates its own careers routes by market. Health, advertising, PR, experiential and other agency businesses can maintain separate career systems. A high-quality search therefore begins with the parent capability map and then moves down to the agency or network that actually owns the work.
For a student, this decentralized model can be an advantage. You can target a media-planning role, healthcare strategy, creative account management, data analytics or PR rather than applying to a vague corporate internship. It also requires more research because there is no defensible single Omnicom internship deadline or one student landing page that captures the entire network.
Media: planning, investment, analytics and performance
Omnicom Media is one of the clearest pathways for analytically oriented students. Its U.S. and global sites describe multiple agencies and specialist services, and current job inventory includes planning, integrated investment, paid search, SEO and other performance-oriented work. At an internship level, similar teams can expose students to how advertisers allocate budgets, define audiences, measure campaign performance and work with media platforms.
A media intern should understand the difference between planning and buying. Planning starts with business and audience objectives; investment or buying is closer to market execution, pricing and channel allocation. Analytics teams may measure outcomes and build reporting. Search or performance teams can work on keyword strategy, bidding, attribution or landing-page performance. The titles can sound similar while the underlying work differs.
Strong preparation includes an analytical artifact built from public data: a media plan with assumptions, a channel-performance analysis, an SEO or paid-search audit, or a short experiment design. The goal is to show that you can move from a client objective to a measurable decision. Do not pretend to know confidential client budgets.
Health and medical communications
Omnicom Health creates a separate opportunity set for students interested in healthcare, life sciences, communications or strategy. The 2026 Medical Strategy Intern interview evidence is particularly useful because it confirms a student pathway inside the network and suggests a concise interview process involving HR and the future manager.
Health-agency work can include medical strategy, scientific communications, brand strategy, account services, creative work, analytics and media. Students should identify whether a role expects scientific fluency or is primarily commercial. A biology or public-health student can be competitive for some strategy or medical-communications roles, while a marketing or communications student may fit account and brand functions.
The interview question reported for the Medical Strategy Intern—what the candidate hoped to gain from the internship—is simple but revealing. A strong answer should be specific about the work: learning how evidence is translated into strategy, how healthcare audiences are segmented, how regulated communication differs from general advertising, or how scientific information is evaluated. “I like healthcare” is too broad.
Creative, brand, PR and experiential work
Advertising and creative agencies remain central to the Omnicom ecosystem. Student roles can involve account management, strategy, copywriting, art direction, production and project management. Public-relations businesses add earned media, reputation, corporate communications and public-affairs work. Experiential agencies focus on live or immersive brand interactions, while branding firms can work on identity, positioning and design systems.
Portfolio expectations differ sharply by function. A creative applicant needs work that demonstrates craft and judgment. A strategist should show research that leads to a clear audience or business insight. An account-management candidate should show organization, stakeholder management and communication. A PR applicant should be able to write clearly and reason about media or reputation. Do not use one generic marketing portfolio across all agency types.
The advantage of the network is exposure to major clients and specialized teams. The trade-off is that brand prestige at the parent level says little about a specific intern experience. The manager, client mix, office and agency economics matter more.
Data, commerce and technology inside the network
Omnicom’s current strategy places substantial weight on data, identity, commerce and its Omni platform. The Interpublic combination added Acxiom capabilities and broadened the organization’s data infrastructure. For technical and analytically oriented students, this means the company should not be viewed only as a creative-services employer.
Commerce work can involve marketplace data, retail media, digital shelf performance, consumer behavior and measurement. Data-oriented teams can support audience strategy, attribution, media optimization and identity. Technical roles may sit inside specialist agencies rather than the parent. A candidate should ask whether the job is analytics, data engineering, product, marketing science or client-facing consulting because those paths develop different skills.
A strong data candidate should show that they can work with messy commercial data, define metrics and communicate findings to a non-technical stakeholder. A product candidate should be able to translate an agency or client problem into requirements. A commerce candidate should understand how retailer economics and digital marketplaces differ from traditional brand advertising.
Who should prioritize Omnicom
Omnicom is a high-value target for students who want client-facing marketing, media, healthcare communications, creative work, PR, commerce or data-driven advertising. The network offers breadth and access to major brands that smaller agencies cannot always match. Students who enjoy ambiguous problems, presentation work and fast-moving client environments can learn quickly.
It is less attractive for someone who wants a single standardized corporate internship with one hiring process and predictable role architecture. The decentralized agency model requires the student to choose carefully. It can also expose interns to workload variability around pitches and client deadlines.
The strongest application thesis names the agency, capability and problem. Instead of saying “I want to intern at Omnicom because it is a global marketing leader,” say why a specific media, health, commerce or strategy team fits your prior work and what you want to learn there.
Unknowns and boundaries that must remain explicit
No single U.S. undergraduate internship cohort, deadline, GPA rule, sponsorship rule, pay rate or work-mode policy was verified at the Omnicom parent level. Agency-side student opportunities clearly exist, but they must be sourced to the specific business.
The November 2025 Interpublic acquisition also means legacy company labels can be stale. Students should verify whether an agency now sits within Omnicom Media, another Connected Capability or a different structure. The parent acquisition does not erase the individual agency’s hiring identity.
For every role, record the hiring agency, exact legal/employer brand if stated, team, location, dates, pay, eligibility, work authorization and manager. That level of specificity is necessary for a useful 2026 Omnicom company page.
Choose the agency function, then build the evidence
Write a fictional client brief and select one output: a research recommendation, a creative concept, a media test or an account-delivery plan. Explain the audience, objective and approval path. Label the work as speculative, with no invented client results. Confirm the actual agency and team rather than treating the parent name as a single recruiting program.
Hypothetical preparation exercise, not an employer assessment or a verified internship assignment.
Interview evidence and preparation
Candidate report · 2026-09-04
The most relevant student evidence comes from Omnicom Health Group. A Medical Strategy Intern account reported two interviews: HR and the future manager. A separate Bold Beginners internship candidate reported a different experience. That variance is exactly why the report does not invent a parent-company interview sequence.
Prepare for the agency and role. Media candidates should be ready to discuss current campaigns or measurement problems. Health candidates should understand the audience and scientific or regulatory context. Creative candidates should defend portfolio choices. Account candidates should demonstrate client-facing judgment. Data candidates should explain methods and limitations. The interview should sound like the work, not a generic corporate behavioral screen.
Research context
Omnicom completed its acquisition of Interpublic on November 26, 2025. Agency and network labels must be verified against the current post-acquisition organization.
