Before you apply
Program evidence and scope
Electrical-engineering students can encounter analog or digital design, validation, product engineering, test and applications work. The fundamentals differ. An analog-design candidate may need circuit analysis and device intuition; a digital candidate may discuss logic, RTL or verification; product and test roles can emphasize characterization, yield and automated test; applications roles connect customer systems to TI devices.

Dated role · 2026-09-04
This report does not assert a company-wide U.S. intern pay schedule, housing stipend or relocation policy because those terms were not established in the retrieved direct sources. The exact requisition and offer should control compensation. [4]
Pay & location
Pay, location and practical considerations
TI has major U.S. operations in Texas and other semiconductor locations, and the internship experience can be site-dependent. Design, manufacturing and product teams may require substantial in-person access to labs or factories. Confirm the actual reporting site and work mode rather than assuming remote eligibility.

Recruiting channels and timing
Candidate report · 2026-09-04
Campus recruiting is still material. Glassdoor’s broad TI interview page displayed 2.8 thousand ratings and reported 59% campus recruiting and 26% online applications in its respondent pool. That is self-selected, but it suggests students should use both campus events and direct applications. [5]
Candidate fit and application strategy
Texas Instruments should be a priority employer for electrical and computer engineering students, but the opportunity set is broader than circuit design. Software, data, manufacturing, industrial engineering, product marketing, supply chain and finance students can all find relevant work depending on the hiring cycle.
The strongest application shows depth. An electrical student should be able to defend one design or measurement project. A software student should be able to trace a system through failure cases. A product candidate should connect a specification to customer value. A manufacturing candidate should show statistical or root-cause discipline.
The business and why TI internships are function-specific
A useful mental model is the semiconductor lifecycle: design the device, fabricate it, test it, package and qualify it, help customers apply it, and manage the commercial decisions around products and factories. Different internships touch different parts of that chain.

Software, embedded systems and data
Software at TI can support embedded development, tools, validation, manufacturing systems, product infrastructure and internal platforms. Software candidates should not assume the job is web-only. Be ready to explain C/C++, Python, embedded concepts, data structures or systems topics if they appear in the posting.

Glassdoor’s internship-filtered Software Engineer page displayed 22 ratings. A visible August 2026 account described one technical round involving a coding problem, project questions and computer-science fundamentals. Because the example was in Bengaluru, it cannot define a U.S. process, but it supports the general preparation principle: know your own projects and fundamentals. [6]
For embedded work, review interfaces and debugging methods you have actually used. For data roles, explain validation and how you detect bad inputs. A resume crowded with technologies you cannot discuss is a liability in a technical interview.
Employee experience and conversion
TI’s May 2026 story is unusually useful because it profiles former interns who became full-time employees and describes mentorship, real projects and cross-functional learning. The company says interns are viewed as a future-workforce pipeline. [1]
Connect the technical layer to a business outcome
For an engineering route, explain an academic design, validation or manufacturing problem and how the result was checked. For a business route, trace a fictional product forecast into inventory or customer support. Choose one layer and make the work inspectable. A general interest in chips is less informative than evidence relevant to the team's actual decision.
Hypothetical preparation exercise, not an employer assessment or a verified internship assignment.
Engineering pathways: design, test and applications
Prepare one project in depth. Explain the requirement, architecture, calculations, simulation or measurement, failure you encountered and how you validated the final result. If the project is a class lab, make the ownership clear. If it is a team design, separate your contribution from the group’s.
TI’s 2026 intern story profiles a former product-marketing engineering intern who liked the combination of business and engineering. That is a useful reminder that technical credibility can be valuable outside pure design. [1] Ask the hiring manager where the role sits in the product lifecycle and which outputs the intern owns.
Interview evidence and technical preparation
Technical candidates should expect the resume to be fair game. Revisit circuits, embedded protocols, data structures, semiconductor fundamentals or manufacturing concepts that the role names. Speak through your reasoning. Business candidates should prepare structured stories and be ready to explain the technical product enough to make a commercial argument.
Manufacturing and process work
TI operates semiconductor manufacturing sites where process, equipment, industrial, manufacturing and quality engineers work on highly controlled production systems. A manufacturing intern should be comfortable with data, root-cause analysis and disciplined change management. Small improvements can matter because a repeated process runs at scale.
Prepare an example where you used measurements to isolate variation. Explain how you separated correlation from a plausible cause and how you would test a change before deploying it broadly. Manufacturing environments also make safety, documentation and procedural compliance part of technical competence.
Ask whether the role is tied to wafer fabrication, assembly/test, facilities, equipment or another manufacturing function. The physical site and shift context can materially change the internship experience.
Product marketing and business roles
A product-marketing candidate should be able to explain a customer use case, competitive trade-off and how a product specification changes the buyer’s decision. Avoid treating marketing as only content creation. Semiconductor product work can require translating between engineers, sales teams and customers.
Finance, supply chain and other business candidates should prepare a model tied to real operations: capital spending, demand planning, inventory, pricing or profitability. Use a hypothetical example rather than inventing TI internal numbers. State assumptions and explain which data would change the recommendation.
Research context
Texas Instruments is a semiconductor company whose products include analog and embedded-processing chips used across industrial, automotive, personal electronics, communications and enterprise systems. Student work can sit in integrated-circuit design, product and test engineering, manufacturing, applications, software, supply chain, finance or business roles. A candidate should identify the technical and commercial layer rather than treat every TI internship as 'chip design.'
