Fictional practice, not an employer interview question.
A fictional buyer is comparing three products whose claims use different definitions and testing conditions. Create a common decision frame rather than ranking the products by headline numbers.
Work through the case
Build or write this
Deliver a short briefing that separates observed evidence, vendor assertions and open questions. Research candidates can assess methodology; sales candidates can practice discovery; client-success candidates can connect the briefing to the client's immediate decision.
Stress-test the decision
Have the buyer reveal a new constraint that changes the recommendation. Revise the analysis transparently. Do not fabricate a Gartner rating, proprietary research finding or customer testimonial.
Turn the exercise into application evidence
Use only your own work, public material or an authorized sandbox. Write the problem, your decision, the test and the limitation in a short case study. A diagram or a focused analysis is acceptable when code is not relevant to the role. Do not claim the exercise reproduces the employer's systems or guarantees an interview.
Prepare your application
For Gartner, distinguish research and advisory work from sales, client success and corporate roles. Demonstrate how you help a decision-maker understand an unfamiliar issue. A strong example names the audience, the evidence used and the decision or action the work supported.
