Interview process

BRG’s official early-career FAQ says interview structure varies by role and location. [BRG4]

More details

Other BRG candidates report cases, Excel work, behavioral interviews and technical screens, which reinforces the practice variation. [BRG13]

Preparation should match the job. Economic-consulting candidates need research and econometrics. Corporate-finance candidates need accounting and modeling. Performance-improvement candidates need operations and implementation. Data candidates need SQL/Python/statistics. Healthcare candidates need sector context.

Internship programs

Summer Associate Program

BRG’s Summer Associate Program is an eight-week internship for students who have completed their junior year of college or are enrolled in a master’s program. The official campus page says Summer Associates work as consulting staff, gain firsthand professional-services exposure and build analytical and professional skills. [BRG3][BRG4]

The firm also hires full-time Associates from undergraduate and graduate programs. A Summer Associate should therefore be viewed as a potential entry into the Associate career path, but BRG’s current public page does not publish one companywide return-offer rate.

Is it a fit?

Fit and trade-offs

BRG is a strong fit for students who want an interdisciplinary advisory firm rather than a pure economics boutique or pure management consultancy. It is especially relevant for economics, healthcare, corporate finance, disputes, data and performance-improvement interests.

Role breadth. BRG can offer cross-practice exposure, but an intern should still know whether the seat is economic consulting, corporate finance, healthcare, data or performance improvement.

Company and operating model

BRG describes itself as a global consulting firm combining world-leading academic credentials with practical industry expertise. Its current public materials group work around economics, disputes and investigations; corporate finance; and performance improvement. [BRG2][BRG6]

This combination matters because the decision standard differs by assignment. Economic consulting can test competition, damages or market evidence. Corporate finance can address transactions, restructuring, valuation or financial disputes. Performance improvement can focus on operations, workforce, strategy, healthcare, energy or other implementation questions. Disputes and investigations can involve forensics, accounting, data, compliance and expert work.

BRG also organizes around industries. Current public materials list Energy & Climate, Financial Services, Government & Public Sector, Healthcare, Technology/Media/Telecommunications and Retail & Consumer Products, among other areas. [BRG5]

The firm’s structure is deliberately interdisciplinary. BRG says teams include experienced industry leaders, academics and data scientists, and its culture materials emphasize cross-practice collaboration and hands-on mentoring. [BRG1][BRG8]

Economics, Competition And Disputes

BRG has substantial economic-consulting and disputes capabilities, including a European competition practice focused on mergers, antitrust, regulation, state aid and litigation. [BRG10]

An intern in economic consulting can research markets, clean data, estimate models, analyze prices or customer behavior and support expert conclusions. Dispute work can require damages, valuation, financial analysis, documents and expert-report support.

Students should prepare microeconomics, statistics and clear research writing. A strong proof asset defines a question, shows the data source, explains the method and states what evidence would weaken the conclusion.

The work is closer to Analysis Group, Cornerstone, CRA or NERA than to a generic corporate-strategy case when the practice is economic consulting. Candidates should ask which practice and expert will own their internship.

Corporate Finance

BRG’s corporate-finance work can include restructuring, valuation, transactions, performance analysis, finance transformation and related advisory matters. [BRG2]

Finance and accounting students should be able to work through financial statements, cash flow, working capital, valuation and scenario analysis. The strongest evidence is not a model alone; it is a decision supported by the model.

A restructuring-oriented candidate should understand liquidity and downside. A transaction candidate should understand the difference between recurring earnings and accounting noise. A valuation candidate should be able to defend assumptions and explain sensitivity.

Performance Improvement

Performance improvement is a core BRG pillar and creates work closer to operations and implementation than pure litigation consulting. [BRG2][BRG6]

Intern work can include cost, operations, organization, workforce, revenue, data, supply chain or transformation. The method depends on the industry. A healthcare performance project differs from a retail or energy project.

Students should show implementation evidence. A recommendation is stronger when the applicant can explain who changed a process, what metric moved and how the result was sustained.

Healthcare

Healthcare interns can encounter economics, disputes, reimbursement, revenue, operations, workforce, market strategy, data or performance improvement. Students should identify the actual practice rather than treating “healthcare consulting” as one job.

Public health, economics, finance, accounting, data science, industrial engineering and life-science students can all fit depending on the assignment. A strong project connects health-sector context to a measurable business or policy decision.

Forensics, Investigations And Litigation

BRG’s broader model includes disputes and investigations. Projects can involve financial records, accounting, compliance, evidence, damages, fraud allegations or regulatory questions. [BRG2]

The key skill is evidence discipline. A candidate should be able to say what a record proves, what it does not, and what alternative explanation remains.

Accounting, economics, data, cybersecurity and legal-process backgrounds can all be relevant. Students should show careful documentation and the ability to communicate uncertainty.

Data And Analytics

BRG describes leading-edge data scientists as part of its professional model. [BRG2] Data work can therefore appear across economics, disputes, healthcare, finance and performance improvement rather than as one isolated data-science internship.

A data candidate should show reproducibility, data quality, statistical reasoning and decision impact. Models should be explainable enough to survive expert or client scrutiny.

Candidate evidence that changes preparation

An August 31, 2026 Summer Associate account described a less structured program than expected. Use that single account to ask for the actual training calendar and staffing process, not to rate the entire firm’s culture. [BRG7]

Before accepting the assignment

Ask which practice staffs the intern and what training is scheduled before client work begins.

Global And Cross-Practice Work

BRG’s global-careers page describes nearly 200 professionals in the UK and Europe working across competition economics, forensic accounting, dispute consulting, energy, technology, digital platforms, construction, real estate, intellectual property and regulated industries. [BRG10]

BRG explicitly emphasizes cross-border and cross-practice collaboration. The upside is breadth; the downside is that a broad employer description does not guarantee any particular mix of cases for one intern.

Research context

BRG’s Summer Associate title spans economic disputes, corporate finance and performance improvement. Those routes differ: one may test an economic claim, another may model cash or valuation, and another may help implement an operating change. Choose the practice before the résumé. [BRG2–BRG4]
