Eligibility turns on enrollment, calendar availability, work authorization and Bethesda access

The current undergraduate posting gives four clear minimum conditions. You need to be available for the June 7 start, attend the June 7–9 in-person orientation in Bethesda, be enrolled as an undergraduate at the start of the program and return to that degree program in fall 2027, and be authorized to work in the United States. You also need to be able to work hybrid from Marriott’s Bethesda headquarters.

The return-to-school rule matters more than a generic freshman, sophomore or junior label. Marriott does not publish a specific graduation-year window or GPA cutoff in this posting. Use your real enrollment and graduation information rather than mapping yourself into an unstated class-year rule.

Marriott lists previous work or volunteer experience in an area of interest under preferred skills rather than minimum qualifications. There is no published prior-internship requirement on the current undergraduate posting.

Choose disciplines by the evidence you can explain

The application asks candidates to identify preferred disciplines. Marriott currently lists Accounting & Finance; Marketing, Communications & Brand Management; Global Design; Customer Group; Loyalty & Consumer Insights; Information Technology; Computer Science; Data Analytics; Global Operations; Human Resources; Revenue Management; and Project Management, while noting the list may not be exhaustive.

Choose disciplines based on evidence you can discuss, not just the function that sounds most selective. A finance student might use a valuation, budgeting or accounting project. A data applicant might use a cleaned dataset, dashboard or analysis. A marketing applicant might use a campaign or customer-research project. A project-management applicant can use a real event, team deliverable or operational process they owned.

If you are interested in several disciplines, rank them by the work you can already explain. The posting does not say that selecting more areas increases your chances.

No prior internship is published as a requirement

Marriott places previous work or volunteer experience in an area of interest under preferred skills, not minimum qualifications. Students without a prior internship can still point to coursework with a concrete deliverable, a campus organization where they owned a budget, event, analysis or process, a part-time job with measurable responsibility, research, volunteer work or an independent project tied to the discipline they select.

Specific evidence is more useful than a broad interest statement. For example, a data applicant can explain the question behind a dashboard, the dataset they cleaned, the metrics they chose and the decision the analysis supported. A finance applicant can explain the assumptions in a model or budget instead of claiming generic finance interest.

Do not create a fake client or employer relationship to make an independent project sound more impressive. Label class work, volunteer work and self-directed projects according to what they actually were.

The fellowship centers on real corporate project work plus cohort programming

Marriott says fellows work on meaningful, high-priority projects connected to business objectives and get hands-on experience inside a specific discipline. Fellows work with Marriott leaders, receive coaching and mentorship, network with the cohort, visit hotels, attend an Executive Leadership Speaker Series and participate in leadership-development programming.

The exact project depends on the team. Do not invent a specific assignment before placement. The supported claim is narrower: the current program is structured around real corporate project work plus discipline-specific exposure rather than passive observation.

The HQ Fellowship is the corporate-headquarters path. Marriott separately operates hotel internships and Voyage, a paid post-graduate leadership-development program. The HQ Fellowship family also has separate current graduate-degree and MBA postings with different pay and eligibility. This guide covers the undergraduate requisition only.

Apply through the undergraduate requisition and keep unpublished steps unpublished

The current route is a Marriott Careers application to the undergraduate HQ Fellowship requisition, job ID 26106649. During the application, candidates identify preferred disciplines.

Marriott does not currently publish a fellowship-specific assessment or interview sequence on the undergraduate posting or the HQ Fellowship program page. Do not import the steps used by Voyage, hotel internships or another employer. If Marriott invites you to an interview or assessment, follow the instructions attached to your application at that point.

Before submitting, have a resume with evidence relevant to your preferred disciplines, a short explanation of why those disciplines fit, and two or three examples showing how you handled a project, ambiguity, collaboration or a measurable result. Apply before the October 17 listing expiration rather than treating the last day as a target.

The posting does not promise conversion or later Marriott employment

Marriott’s current undergraduate posting says fellows can explore career opportunities at the company, but it does not promise an internship conversion, return offer, full-time role or Voyage placement. Treat any later recruiting step as a separate process unless Marriott tells you otherwise.

If you participate, use the experience accurately on your resume: identify the Marriott HQ Fellowship and your real discipline or team, then describe the project, tools and output you actually completed. Before the program starts, an accepted offer can be listed as an incoming fellowship role only if that description accurately reflects your status.

Do not apply to a graduate or MBA HQ Fellowship requisition because its pay is higher if you are not in that degree type. The current jobs page shows separate undergraduate, graduate-degree and MBA routes, and this canonical intentionally keeps their eligibility and compensation separate.
