Build this work sample

Create a campaign brief for a fictional product with a defined audience and budget constraint. Develop two creative directions, explain the trade-off and propose a small test. Show how you would distinguish message effectiveness from targeting or placement effects. Do not manufacture conversion results for an unrun concept.

A test that makes the sample credible

Change the placement or audience assumption and explain whether the creative comparison still answers the same question. Present the concepts as unrun work, with an explicit test and failure condition. The value is the reasoning behind the creative direction, not an invented conversion uplift.

This is an editorial preparation exercise, not an employer assessment or a claim that a program assigns this work.

Marketing, consumer research and growth analysis

Marketing internships differ sharply between market research, brand work, performance channels, lifecycle communication and sales support. Search the function, not just “marketing.” The BLS market research analyst profile provides background on understanding customers and evaluating markets, but does not imply that every marketing position is an analytical research role.

Visual communication and graphic design

Graphic design internships may focus on identity systems, marketing assets, publication design, digital production or internal communication. Search graphic design intern, visual design, brand design and production design. The BLS graphic designer profile describes the occupation; the employer’s portfolio expectations and tool requirements are specific to the role.

Business analytics and decision support

Business analytics is useful when it changes a decision. That can mean investigating a decline in conversion, estimating a capacity constraint or reconciling two reporting systems before a manager acts. Search business analyst, operations analyst, decision science, business intelligence and analytics intern. The BLS operations research profile describes a more mathematical neighboring occupation; not every business analytics internship requires optimization or advanced modeling.

Writing, editing and communications

Writing and communications internships can involve editorial research, technical explanation, internal communication, copywriting or content operations. Search editorial intern, communications intern, content strategy, technical writing and copywriting separately. The BLS writers and authors profile supplies occupational background; a portfolio and the employer’s actual work often matter more than the broad title.

Application and offer checks

Read the actual duties and entry conditions before choosing which version of this project to submit. For the routes above, use the posting to confirm the degree level, return-to-study rule, work location and dates. The linked program pages are starting points, not verified 2027 vacancies.

Compare the stated pay unit, paid weeks, location, transport and housing support. No current internship pay range is established here; occupational median wages are not intern pay. Confirm supervision and any school-credit requirements before accepting.

Background

Advertising offers creative, strategy, media and measurement routes. Decide whether you want to make the work, define the audience or evaluate distribution and results. Your portfolio should demonstrate the connection between the customer problem and the creative choice. A campaign concept without research is different from a measured campaign; both can be useful when labeled honestly.
