Build this work sample

Produce a literature- and public-archive-based case on how a particular practice is represented by different institutions. Identify the source creators, intended audiences and missing perspectives. Develop a research plan for questions the archive cannot answer. Do not conduct unsupervised fieldwork or claim to speak for a community based on a small sample.

A test that makes the sample credible

Separate an observed practice from your interpretation of it. Add a reflexive note on how the collection setting could affect what people say or do. Use authorized, consented material and show how another account could challenge the conclusion without treating a small exercise as representative of a community.

This is an editorial preparation exercise, not an employer assessment or a claim that a program assigns this work.

Social research, user insight and evaluation

Social research skills can support evaluation, customer insight, community research and organizational studies. Search research assistant, qualitative research, evaluation, insights and social science intern. The BLS sociologist profile explains the professional research occupation; it is not a statement that undergraduate internships require or confer the same qualifications.

User experience, interaction design and product research

User experience work can involve research, interaction design, information architecture, usability testing or interface implementation. Search UX design intern, product design intern, interaction design, UX research and accessibility, then examine the duties. The BLS web development and digital design profile provides adjacent occupational context; specialized UX research internships may have their own degree requirements.

Writing, editing and communications

Writing and communications internships can involve editorial research, technical explanation, internal communication, copywriting or content operations. Search editorial intern, communications intern, content strategy, technical writing and copywriting separately. The BLS writers and authors profile supplies occupational background; a portfolio and the employer’s actual work often matter more than the broad title.

Public policy, government and regulatory research

Policy internships can involve legislative research, program analysis, stakeholder correspondence, public records and administrative work. The employer might be a public agency, legislative office, research organization or a company’s policy team. The BLS political scientist profile describes a research occupation that often requires advanced study; undergraduate policy internships are a separate route and should be evaluated on their own requirements.

Application and offer checks

Read the actual duties and entry conditions before choosing which version of this project to submit. For the routes above, use the posting to confirm the degree level, return-to-study rule, work location and dates. The linked program pages are starting points, not verified 2027 vacancies.

Compare the stated pay unit, paid weeks, location, transport and housing support. No current internship pay range is established here; occupational median wages are not intern pay. Confirm supervision and any school-credit requirements before accepting.

Background

Anthropology can translate into research, museums, cultural organizations and human-centered commercial work. Its value is careful contextual understanding rather than quick generalizations about a group. Select internships that let you document how evidence was gathered and interpreted. Museum collections work, archaeological field support and product research are different pathways and should not share an undifferentiated application.
