Build this work sample
Build a fictional event plan with attendance scenarios, staffing, ticket categories and sponsor obligations. Estimate the effect of a weather disruption or lower-than-expected attendance. Create a post-event reporting plan that separates attendance, revenue, fulfillment and audience feedback. Do not treat social impressions as equivalent to sponsor value without explaining the objective.
A test that makes the sample credible
Choose one disrupted event day and update the staffing plan, ticket assumptions and sponsor deliverables together. Identify the obligation that still has to be fulfilled when attendance falls. Show which costs can actually be changed at that point instead of treating every budget line as variable.
This is an editorial preparation exercise, not an employer assessment or a claim that a program assigns this work.

Hospitality, events and guest operations
Hospitality internships can involve guest operations, rooms, food and beverage, events, revenue support or corporate functions. These pathways have different schedules and measures of success. Search hospitality intern, hotel operations, event operations, revenue management and food-and-beverage intern. The BLS lodging manager profile provides occupational background, not a claim that a student intern independently manages a hotel.
Marketing, consumer research and growth analysis
Marketing internships differ sharply between market research, brand work, performance channels, lifecycle communication and sales support. Search the function, not just “marketing.” The BLS market research analyst profile provides background on understanding customers and evaluating markets, but does not imply that every marketing position is an analytical research role.
Business analytics and decision support
Business analytics is useful when it changes a decision. That can mean investigating a decline in conversion, estimating a capacity constraint or reconciling two reporting systems before a manager acts. Search business analyst, operations analyst, decision science, business intelligence and analytics intern. The BLS operations research profile describes a more mathematical neighboring occupation; not every business analytics internship requires optimization or advanced modeling.
Operations improvement and service delivery
Operations work concerns the movement of work through a real system: orders, people, machines, cases or appointments. Search operations intern, process improvement, service operations, continuous improvement and planning analyst. The BLS operations research guide describes one analytical route; many practical operations internships rely more on observation, spreadsheet analysis and implementation than on advanced optimization.
Application and offer checks
Read the actual duties and entry conditions before choosing which version of this project to submit. For the routes above, use the posting to confirm the degree level, return-to-study rule, work location and dates. The linked program pages are starting points, not verified 2027 vacancies.
Compare the stated pay unit, paid weeks, location, transport and housing support. No current internship pay range is established here; occupational median wages are not intern pay. Confirm supervision and any school-credit requirements before accepting.
Background
Sports Management should not be reduced to working near athletes. Teams, venues, leagues, agencies and event operators need commercial, operational and analytical work. Ticketing, sponsorship support, venue operations and audience analysis have different day-to-day demands. Choose the function you would still find useful outside sports; that makes the internship more transferable and helps you avoid accepting weak work solely for the brand.
