How listings work

Understand the listings, read deadline labels, and keep your saved application plans safe.

The listing directory is currently unavailable. The source-linked guides and 2027 recruiting calendar remain available; confirm current openings and requirements with each employer.

Check the application deadline.

An application deadline is different from an internship’s start date.

What appears in the directory

One search brings together the internships we have collected. When source evidence identifies the same job, we combine those records into one listing and keep the original links working. The total includes older listings, closed roles, and listings with unconfirmed details; it is not a count of open applications.

Use the availability filter to exclude confirmed closures and passed deadlines. Search and filters use the details available for each listing. We show unconfirmed information honestly, and an older observation alone does not mark a role closed. Check the employer’s posting before you apply.

Coverage is different from verified availability

U.S. internships collected counts the U.S. listings in our directory, including historical records, known closures, and unconfirmed availability. U.S. listings excluding closed removes reviewed-closed or incorrect records, confirmed closures or withdrawals, and passed application deadlines. It still includes listings whose current availability has not been verified.

Verified active U.S. internships is a smaller group. Each listing must have an active record in our validated catalog, an employer-source verification within the preceding 24 hours, a freshness window that has not expired, an available application destination, and valid publication permission. Reviewed closures, withdrawn or incorrect postings, future-dated checks, and passed deadlines cannot qualify. A shorter source freshness window takes precedence over the 24-hour maximum.

The count and its search filter use the same identity rules. Several source records explicitly bound to one job count once; this does not establish that every possible duplicate has been found. U.S. scope follows the directory’s country evidence, including the original U.S.-scoped historical collection. A verified remote role needs an explicit U.S. eligibility binding or U.S. country evidence; remote alone is not a U.S. location.

The displayed timestamp is when the counts were calculated, not when every employer was checked. Opening this page or importing a catalog does not renew a listing’s verification time. The verification interval excludes the instant exactly 24 hours before the snapshot and includes the snapshot instant. Counts expire from cache at source-freshness, deadline, and publication-permission boundaries, or when catalog releases change.

Older checks remain available in the broader directory unless other availability rules exclude them. Zero qualifying verified listings does not mean every other internship is closed. An unavailable verified catalog produces an unknown count, not a fabricated zero. These groups overlap and should not be added together. Other websites may use different definitions of “active,” so our coverage total does not establish a verified-active lead over another service.

What deadline labels tell you

A published deadline keeps the date and time zone the employer gives. If only a date is known, it appears as an all-day calendar event, without an assumed midnight cutoff. Rolling means there is no fixed closing date. Unconfirmed means we don’t have a verified deadline for that listing.

Internship start and end dates are program dates, not application deadlines. A full-time start target is not a graduation requirement. Employers can close applications early.

What to do when details are missing

Unconfirmed means the detail hasn’t been verified in our listing. It may still appear on the employer’s page. We don’t fill gaps with guesses about pay, sponsorship, or graduation requirements. A recent check of a posting does not mean every detail is available here.

How availability changes

Our listings reflect the source information we have checked. An older check does not prove that a role has closed. We remove a role from filtered application results when closure or withdrawal is confirmed, or its published deadline has passed. A temporary problem checking the source does not mark it closed.

Your saved notes remain accessible when a listing becomes unavailable. Your personal application stage and the employer’s listing status are separate, so a closed posting does not erase your progress.

First seen is not the opening date

Our recruiting data separates the employer-posted date, the first time we detected a listing, and the last source verification. Rechecking an older role does not make it newly opened. A recorded reopening needs an explicit event in the source-backed catalog; a temporary error is not a closure or reopening.

The statistics and season collections count US-location or explicitly US-remote records still eligible for application discovery. They do not count the entire market, and they exclude closed, expired or unpublished records. Missing deadline information stays unconfirmed rather than becoming rolling. Season filters use the catalog’s explicit internship term, not a graduation year.

Counts are calculated from a committed release, with their denominator and measurement time shown. A measured timestamp does not mean every role was just verified. First-detection tables describe retained records only; they cannot establish historical opening volume or typical time to closure.

Where your saved plans live

Saved roles, comparisons, stages, target dates, and notes stay in the browser where you entered them. They do not sync to another device. Download a backup before clearing browser data or switching browsers.

Use “Back up or import your shortlist” on Saved roles to download a file before switching browsers. Keep that file private: it contains your notes.

Newsletter subscriptions are managed separately through Beehiiv. Subscribing does not sync your saved roles or create personalized deadline alerts.
