Four near-term application deadlines need different treatment

Mitacs Globalink Research Internship 2027 — September 16

Mitacs says applications are open for its 2027 Globalink Research Internship, a competitive research program that places eligible undergraduate students on projects at Canadian academic institutions. Its official student page lists a September 16, 2026 deadline at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time and says late applications will not be accepted. The program spans all disciplines, but country and partner eligibility rules vary. Mitacs program source.

U.S. students have a separate route. Mitacs directs American applicants to Fulbright Canada instead of the Mitacs application platform. Fulbright Canada lists the 2027 competition as open and states an application deadline of September 16, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. EST, with references accepted through September 23. Its published eligibility requires U.S. citizenship, enrollment at an accredited U.S. university, full-time undergraduate or combined undergraduate/master's study, one to three semesters remaining as of Fall 2027, a competitive GPA, and availability for a 10- to 12-week research internship in Canada. Fulbright Canada program source and application source.

Student action: if you are a U.S. applicant, do not use the general Mitacs application platform. Finish the Fulbright Canada application before 4:00 p.m. EST on September 16 and make sure your referees understand their separate September 23 deadline. If you are applying through another country or partner, use the eligibility section on the Mitacs page and check for any partner-specific instructions before assuming the general deadline applies unchanged.

Citi: San Francisco Corporate Banking Summer Analyst — September 17

Citi's official careers page says its 2027 San Francisco Corporate Banking Summer Analyst role was posted September 10 and lists an anticipated posting close date of September 17, 2026. The page remains application-enabled at this source check. Citi describes a ten-week summer analyst program in corporate banking. Citi employer source.

Student action: if the role fits, treat September 17 as the employer-stated close date and submit before the final day. An anticipated close date can still change, so the employer page remains the source of truth.

Bank of America: Toronto Global Payments Solutions — September 18 at 11:55 p.m. EST

Bank of America's official page states that its Toronto Global Payments Solutions Summer Analyst role closes September 18, 2026 at 11:55 p.m. EST. It lists a December 2027 through August 2028 graduation window and says a 3.2+ GPA is preferred. Bank of America employer source.

Student action: preserve the employer's exact time and time zone in your calendar. Do not silently turn an 11:55 p.m. EST cutoff into a generic “September 18” reminder.

Bank of America also has a separate cluster of U.S. 2027 summer programs currently showing September 30 dates. Those programs have different eligibility and should not be collapsed into the Toronto deadline. See the September 12 Bank of America deadline briefing.

JPMorganChase: Code for Good Brooklyn event — September 18

JPMorganChase's official 2027 Code for Good / Software Engineer Program Summer Internship listing is still application-enabled. Its event section lists the Brooklyn Code for Good event on October 16–17 with an application deadline of September 18, 2026. That event is for students interested in Jersey City, New York, Palo Alto, Chicago, or Wilmington. The same posting separately shows an overall “Apply Before” date of November 6, so the later posting date should not be treated as the Brooklyn event deadline. JPMorganChase employer source.

The employer page lists a separate Columbus Code for Good event on November 6–7 for students interested in Columbus, Plano, Houston, or Tampa, with an October 9 application deadline. It also states that applicants should be pursuing a bachelor's degree or fifth-year master's degree with expected graduation between December 2027 and June 2028 in computer science, information science, information technology, data science, artificial intelligence, big data, or a related field, and that this program does not offer employment-based immigration sponsorship.

Student action: choose the event path that matches your preferred work locations. If Brooklyn is the relevant path, work from September 18, not the later overall job-posting date. If Columbus is the relevant path, the employer currently states October 9.

Chevron's recruiting calendar is dense from September 14 through 17

Chevron's official recruiting-events page describes campus visits as opportunities to discuss internships and development programs, and its current calendar shows a concentrated recruiting window this week. Chevron recruiting-events source.

  • September 14: Colorado School of Mines has multiple Chevron events, Penn State has an engineering reception, and the University of Michigan has a job and internship fair.
  • September 15: Chevron lists events at Colorado School of Mines, Mississippi State, Prairie View A&M, South Dakota Mines, the University of Houston, and Rice.
  • September 16: the calendar includes Cal Poly, Iowa State, LSU, Penn State, Prairie View A&M, Rice, Oklahoma, the University of Texas at Austin McCombs Career Expo, UT Permian Basin, and Wyoming.
  • September 17: the published calendar includes LSU, Montana Tech, the University of Houston and UT Austin's Jackson School of Geosciences, among other events.

Campus-event details can change, and Chevron explicitly tells students to verify locations and requirements with their placement or career office. The useful signal is not that every attendee is guaranteed an interview. It is that students at these schools have an unusually immediate chance to meet the employer while internship recruiting is active.

What to do this week

  1. Submit the research application first if it fits. The Mitacs/Fulbright Canada deadline is September 16, ahead of Citi on September 17 and the Bank of America Toronto GPS and JPMorganChase Brooklyn Code for Good deadlines on September 18.
  2. Match the deadline to the exact application route. U.S. Mitacs applicants use Fulbright Canada; other Mitacs applicants follow their country/partner route. JPMorganChase's Brooklyn and Columbus Code for Good events have different deadlines and map to different work locations; Bank of America's Toronto and U.S. programs also run on different dates.
  3. Check the exact source again before submission. Recruiting pages can change after this briefing, especially listings with anticipated close dates or partner-specific application rules.
  4. Treat a campus event as a preparation deadline. Know which function you want, have a concise reason for your interest, and prepare two questions that cannot be answered by the employer homepage.
  5. Follow employer- or program-directed application steps. Meeting a recruiter or finding a general program page does not replace the required application route.
