DeadlineOctober 16, 2026 at 12 PM EST, as written by the employer
Program datesJanuary 4–8, 2027
LocationBoston, Massachusetts; applicant must be willing and able to come into the Boston office for the program week
EligibilityCollege sophomores; the posting does not publish one exact graduation-year range
Prior finance experienceNot required
Participant workAbbreviated analyst training, investment-area and cross-functional presentations, and a group research project under a senior investment-team member
Compensation/supportHousing support stated; wage or stipend not stated

The employer explicitly says no previous experience in finance is necessary. It still asks for strong academic credentials, interest in finance and financial markets, math/analytical and/or programming skills, curiosity about international capital markets, trading strategies and risk analysis, and the ability to work effectively on a team.

The posting promises housing support but does not state wages or a stipend. Do not describe the program as paid or unpaid unless Bracebridge publishes a compensation term for this cycle.

The differentiator is the group research project

The week is more than a sequence of speaker sessions. Bracebridge says participants complete an abbreviated version of analyst training, hear from Portfolio Managers about investment areas and risk analysis, meet people across research, back office, legal, technology and software, and perform a group research project with support from investment analysts and Bracebridge resources.

That project is the strongest durable signal in the program description. If you complete it, you can later discuss how you divided research, tested an assumption, reconciled conflicting evidence or changed a recommendation. Do not publish confidential firm information or describe internal material beyond what you are permitted to discuss.

The employer does not promise an internship interview, return offer or accelerated recruiting process in the current posting. Treat the program as short-form training and project experience. Any later recruiting step is a separate application unless Bracebridge tells participants otherwise.

Prepare the four pieces the live application actually asks for

The current form requires a resume or CV, a cover letter, your most recent transcript and a written explanation of why you are personally interested in the Winternship. It also asks for education information, expected undergraduate graduation date and confirmation that you can attend in Boston January 4–8.

Application evidence map
Bracebridge asks forEvidence you can use without prior finance employment
Strong analytical abilityA class or independent analysis where you checked assumptions or reconciled data
Math and/or programmingA problem set, model, script or project you can explain line by line
Interest in financial marketsA specific market question, reading trail or small research exercise rather than a generic prestige statement
TeamworkA project, job, club or event where your contribution and handoff are clear
Curiosity about markets and riskOne example of changing your view after new evidence or a failed assumption

Because prior finance experience is not required, your application does not need an invented finance job. Use evidence for the qualities Bracebridge does ask for. A quantitative class project can support analytical ability. A programming assignment can show how you debug and check results. A campus role or part-time job can show teamwork and reliability. Name the work accurately.

For the interest response, connect one real experience to one part of the program. If you enjoyed testing why a model changed under a new assumption, explain why the investment-team research project interests you. If you have been learning fixed income independently, name the question that keeps pulling you back. Avoid generic claims about wanting to 'learn from the best' that could be sent to any firm.

Build one small research sample before you apply

You do not need to imitate a hedge fund portfolio. Pick one public company, bond issuer or macro question and write a one-page research note using public information. State the question, the evidence you used, what would change your view and one limitation. The point is to create something you can defend, not to predict markets perfectly.

For example, if you compare two companies' debt loads, define the metric before interpreting it. Debt-to-EBITDA, interest coverage and debt maturity dates answer different questions. Check that periods and units match. If a result changes materially when you adjust one assumption, say so.

Keep the sample separate from the Bracebridge application unless the firm asks for it. Use it to sharpen your cover letter and prepare for conversations. The live application requests a resume/CV, cover letter and transcript; it does not request an unsolicited stock pitch or research deck.

List the program only after you reach the corresponding stage

Submitting an application is not experience. If you are selected, you can list the official program name and dates as an incoming or selected program participant. After completing the week, describe the training and group research project you actually completed.

A safe completed-program structure is: 'Bracebridge Capital — 2027 Sophomore Winternship, Boston, MA' followed by a bullet naming your real contribution to the group research project. Keep the entry under a Programs, Selected Programs or similarly accurate section if that best reflects a one-week experience; do not convert it into a summer analyst title.

The interview value comes from being able to explain the work. Prepare one example of an assumption you tested, a source you trusted or rejected, a disagreement the team resolved, and what you would investigate next. Use only information you are allowed to discuss.

Use the Winternship as a first finance signal, not a promised pipeline

Before October 16, finish the required transcript, cover letter, resume and personal-interest response, then submit early enough that the employer's written noon cutoff is not a last-minute risk. If selected, confirm housing-support and travel instructions directly with Bracebridge before making nonrefundable plans.

After the program, the natural next step is to apply to finance and investment internships where your project work is relevant. The current Bracebridge posting does not state a conversion path, guaranteed interview or future internship offer, so do not present one as part of the program.

If you are not selected, the preparation is still reusable. Keep the small research sample, improve it with feedback and use the same evidence in other sophomore programs or internship applications that actually fit your eligibility.
