Apply for the Summer 2028 recruiting relationship

Apply if the graduation window, GPA and work-authorization rules fit and you would seriously consider a Summer 2028 internship at FTI. A prior consulting internship is not required.

IMPACT is most useful if you want to test which FTI practice fits you and enter Summer 2028 recruiting with a real connection to the firm. Coursework, research, campus work, a part-time job or a project can give you enough material for the application. The two-day program is career exploration and professional development, not client employment.

Pick one FTI area to prepare for

Choose one or two practices that connect to work you have already done. You do not need a polished story for all five practices. One specific connection is stronger than reciting FTI’s service lines.

Match existing evidence to one FTI practice
FTI areaEvidence you might already have
Corporate FinanceAccounting, valuation, financial analysis, transaction or restructuring work
Economic ConsultingEconomics, statistics, data analysis or research
TechnologySoftware, data, cybersecurity or digital-forensics work
Strategic CommunicationsWriting, audience research, communications or media analysis
Forensic & Litigation ConsultingInvestigation, accounting, statistics or document-heavy research

A useful explanation has three parts: what you worked on, one decision or problem you handled, and why that makes the FTI area worth exploring.

Prepare for the prerecorded video before you apply

FTI sends the video link within two business days after you apply. You answer two questions, get one minute for each response, and have 96 hours before the link expires. FTI says it will resend the link no more than once.

Before applying, prepare three or four examples you can deliver in about a minute: why one FTI practice interests you, a problem you solved, a decision you made with incomplete information, and a time you explained your reasoning clearly. For each example, know the situation, what you personally did, and what changed because of your decision.

The actual questions are not published, so practice adapting the same evidence rather than memorizing guessed prompts. If you apply near the deadline, watch for the link during the next two business days and leave enough time inside the 96-hour window to record without rushing.

Priority consideration is useful, but it is not a Summer 2028 offer

IMPACT participants receive priority consideration for Summer 2028 internships in the five named practices. It is not a guaranteed interview or offer. The Summer 2028 internship posting will set its own locations, eligibility, timing and interview process.

If selected, use the two virtual days to test practice-area fit, learn what the work actually involves and ask questions that will matter when Summer 2028 recruiting opens.

Apply early if you are ready, then watch for the video link

Apply by October 23 if your application is ready and you want the earlier decision timeline. October 23 is not the final deadline: applications remain open through January 27, 2027 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

After submitting, watch for the video link and finish it inside the 96-hour window. If selected, use the program to decide which FTI practice you would seriously pursue in Summer 2028 recruiting.
