Start here: Spring 2027 U.S. applications close September 24, 2026
The Washington Center currently lists Spring, Summer and Fall 2027 Academic Internship Program cycles. For U.S. applicants, Spring closes September 24, 2026. The Spring internship period runs January 25 through April 30, 2027.
| Term | U.S. application deadline | Internship period |
|---|---|---|
| Spring 2027 | September 24, 2026 | January 25–April 30, 2027 |
| Summer 2027 | Early: December 2, 2026; regular: January 13, 2027 | June 1–July 30, 2027 |
| Fall 2027 | April 14, 2027 | September 7–December 10, 2027 |
Summer 2027 has an early deadline of December 2, 2026 and a regular deadline of January 13, 2027, with the internship period running June 1 through July 30. Fall applications for U.S. students close April 14, 2027, with internships running September 7 through December 10.
International deadlines differ: September 17, 2026 for Spring, December 2, 2026 for Summer and March 17, 2027 for Fall. The Spring international deadline has already passed as of this September 23 review.
Confirm academic permission before treating the program as an internship option
The standard undergraduate rules require participants to be at least 18, enrolled at an accredited college or university, at sophomore standing or above while participating, and to have completed at least two semesters on campus. The published GPA floor is 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
Participants must receive academic credit through their school’s agreement with TWC or through TWC’s school of record, Elon University, when applicable. Students at affiliated schools also need campus-liaison approval. Your school can impose additional requirements.
Recent graduates and master’s students are considered case by case. Do not translate that exception into a universal graduate-student eligibility promise.

Separate TWC fees from your school-specific bill and from host-employer compensation
For 2027, TWC publishes a $60 application fee for each term. Its program fee is $9,700 for Spring, $7,500 for Summer and $9,700 for Fall. TWC housing is listed at $6,570 for Spring, $4,990 for Summer and $6,570 for Fall.
| Term | Application fee | Program fee | Housing fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spring 2027 | $60 | $9,700 | $6,570 |
| Summer 2027 | $60 | $7,500 | $4,990 |
| Fall 2027 | $60 | $9,700 | $6,570 |
Those published TWC fees are not automatically your final out-of-pocket cost. TWC says participation cost depends on the student’s college or university arrangement, and students should ask their campus liaison and financial-aid office how billing, aid and scholarships apply.
Do not subtract assumed host wages from those fees. TWC’s public program page does not establish one universal compensation rule for every host internship.

A TWC program acceptance is not a specific employer offer
TWC says the preparation and internship-search phase begins before arrival. Participants work with a career coach on a resume, interviewing and internship strategy. If a participant commits to the process, completes tasks and meets deadlines, TWC guarantees an internship offer.
That guarantee is conditional and does not promise a chosen employer, exact role, work arrangement or wage. TWC’s intern policies also say the organization cannot promise a specific site.
During the term, the internship itself requires at least 32 hours per week and may be hybrid or fully in person depending on the specific placement. The broader program also includes career-readiness programming and a weekly evening academic course.
Prepare documents for TWC’s actual application and your later host search
TWC’s application materials include a resume, professional-interest statement, writing evidence and academic records. Use the professional-interest statement to explain the work you want to test and the environments you want to learn in; keep it distinct from a general writing sample.
Before paying or committing, get written answers from your school about credit, degree substitution, financial aid and billing. Then compare the TWC package with direct employer applications rather than assuming a fee-charging academic program is your only route.
If you are applying for Spring 2027 as a U.S. student, the September 24 deadline is immediate. Submit only after checking your campus requirements and the live TWC application route.
