The acquired business sits within the newly established Edge Systems division, which combines sensing, computing, connectivity, and security. The transaction added locations in Valencia, Rapperswil, and Hyderabad. These are business-footprint facts, not a promise that internships are available at each new site. [S4]

Keep graduate programs separate. The International Graduate Program is an 18-month route for graduates with a relevant degree and a sequence of assignments; it is not interchangeable with an enrolled-student internship. Dual-study programs and apprenticeships are also distinct educational/employment structures. An applicant should not submit to them merely because an aggregator categorizes everything under “early careers.” [S8]

For a working-student opening, check the permitted hours during term, enrollment requirements, and whether local rules allow the proposed arrangement. For a thesis assignment, clarify academic supervision and publication restrictions. The report does not treat a condition on an older regional page as a global company policy.

A strong preparation project would measure a sensor under several conditions, document the test setup, and explain error sources. Describe how you distinguished a sensor limitation from a wiring, timing, or calibration problem. A collection of plots is insufficient unless the reader can understand what changed between measurements and why the comparison is valid. This is a suggested work sample, not a request to undertake unsafe electrical testing or a claim about the team's confidential design.

The application-engineering direction suits students who enjoy both hardware and explanation. It may be less attractive to someone seeking only abstract algorithm research. Ask how much work is laboratory validation, how much is documentation, and whether the intern interacts with product engineers or customers. Those proportions determine the experience more than the title alone.

Infineon deserves a place on the list for students who want industrially relevant technology and can connect their work to a physical system, manufacturing process, or technical-business workflow. It is not necessary to be a chip designer to find a plausible route, but the route must be demonstrated by a specific role. The strongest candidates can explain both the task and why errors in that task matter.

Two transactions help explain where to search. The July 2026 sensor acquisition adds medical-imaging and sensor-interface capabilities alongside position, capacitive, and temperature sensing. Separately, Infineon completed the acquisition of Marvell's Automotive Ethernet business on August 14, 2025. That business supports networking within vehicles and was placed in an Ethernet Solutions business line in the Automotive division. For application purposes, organize the company by the problem you want to work on: delivering and controlling electrical power; connecting and controlling embedded systems; measuring physical signals; manufacturing reliable devices; or supporting the commercial and operational system around these products. Preparation should show disciplined problem-solving. A useful example is an investigation in which several explanations were initially plausible and evidence narrowed them down. Explain the test sequence and what would have invalidated the conclusion. In this kind of work, confidently naming a root cause too early is not a strength. The proposed method is general analytical guidance, not an account of Infineon's internal failure-analysis procedure.

Infineon's Kulim location page separately describes onboarding, learning, and networking for interns and identifies graduate development routes. That supports a distinction between a student experience and a graduate program at a manufacturing site. It does not establish an identical program in Melaka or every other location. [S9]

A prospective intern can test the learning environment with concrete questions. Who checks the first test result or analysis? Is there a named mentor with time allocated to the role? What happens when the intern's initial project becomes unnecessary? For a newly integrated business, ask which tools, reporting lines, and locations have changed and whether that affects onboarding. The acquisition facts make this a reasonable question, but they do not prove that a particular team is experiencing disruption.

Take a public or academic component example and define the task it is intended to perform. Show one unfavorable condition and the evidence needed to evaluate it. A software, device or business sample should explain the same application at the appropriate layer. Avoid implying that knowledge of a market establishes mastery of its engineering requirements.
