The 2026 cycle is closed; the next eligibility update is due in October
Broad describes BSRP as nine weeks of original experimental or computational genomics research for undergraduates. The current page still reflects the completed 2026 cycle and says to check back in October 2026 for updated eligibility requirements for the next application cycle.
| Question | Current published answer |
|---|---|
| Next cycle open? | No confirmed next-cycle application yet; Broad says to check back in October 2026 for updated eligibility |
| Program format | Nine weeks of experimental or computational genomics research |
| 2026 program dates | June 1–July 31, 2026 — historical, not a 2027 schedule |
| 2026 student deadline | January 11, 2026 — historical, not a 2027 deadline |
| Displayed support | $5,400 stipend, housing, domestic travel and support to present research — treat as last-published terms until the next cycle confirms them |
| Separate high-school program | BSSP is distinct from the college BSRP |
BSRP is the college research program. Broad’s Broad Summer Scholars Program, or BSSP, is a separate high-school program. Do not transfer BSSP eligibility, dates or application rules into a BSRP plan.
Wait for the new eligibility call before applying old class-year rules
Broad’s current BSRP pages retain prior-cycle requirements, including STEM study, interest in a research doctorate and a 3.2 GPA threshold. They also contain inconsistent enrollment-year wording. Because Broad has explicitly promised an October 2026 eligibility update, use those old rules only as preparation context, not as confirmed next-cycle eligibility.
Recheck enrollment year, graduation window, GPA threshold and work-authorization language together when the new call appears. A refreshed banner alone is not enough if older sections below it still describe the prior cycle.
Prepare evidence for experimental or computational research without guessing the next form
The prior application used an online form, transcript, résumé or CV, essays and two recommendation letters. Do not assign those materials a new deadline until Broad publishes the next application. Instead, prepare a short factual account of one question you pursued, one obstacle and one decision you made, plus a current résumé and a clean academic record.
A computational applicant can explain how they tested whether an analysis generalized or failed; an experimental applicant can explain how a control changed an interpretation. Name the question and evidence before listing techniques. Do not promise a specific Broad project that has not been offered.
Treat BSRP as a full summer block
Broad’s FAQ says BSRP participants should not take classes, join another program, prepare for the MCAT or hold another job during the program. Professional development also occurs outside laboratory work, so do not evaluate the commitment as laboratory hours alone.
Before accepting a future offer, verify the new program dates, stipend, housing, travel and outside-commitment rules together. The displayed $5,400 stipend and support package are useful planning references, not a promise that the next cycle will be identical.
