Start here: the two programs look similar, but the recruiting gate is different
Engineer Your Career and Destination CPA are both current PwC student programs built around a three-day, in-person experience. PwC says it will pay travel and accommodations for both. The 2027 dates have not yet been announced on either reviewed program page.

The key difference is what must happen before the event. Engineer Your Career asks eligible students to apply to a 2028 AI Engineering/Data Scientist or Software Engineering internship. Destination CPA goes further: PwC says an invitation requires receiving and accepting a qualifying 2028 internship offer. That makes Destination CPA a post-offer experience, while Engineer Your Career is tied to the internship application process but is not described as requiring an accepted offer on the current program page.
Do not describe either three-day program as the internship itself. PwC separately describes its Advance internship as real client work alongside PwC professionals. Engineer Your Career and Destination CPA are short student experiences connected to later internship recruiting.
Engineer Your Career is the technology route, and the internship application comes first
PwC describes Engineer Your Career as a three-day experience focused on how its teams use AI and other emerging technologies in real-world work. Participants join interactive sessions, hands-on activities and conversations with technologists, problem solvers and leaders across PwC lines of service.
The current eligibility rule is specific. PwC is seeking bachelor’s students who are sophomores in a four-year program or juniors in a five-year program. Applicants must apply to a 2028 AI Engineering/Data Scientist or Software Engineering internship. The named majors include Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, AI/AI Engineering, Human Computer Interaction, Machine Learning, Software Engineering, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Information Systems/Technology, Industrial Engineering, Management Information Systems, Mathematics and Statistics.
The program page does not say that you need a previous internship, does not publish an event wage or stipend, and does not say that participation guarantees a 2028 internship offer. Keep those fields unstated unless the exact internship requisition or invitation says otherwise.
Destination CPA is an accounting program after a qualifying 2028 internship offer
Destination CPA is also a three-day, in-person experience, but the program is built for students pursuing the CPA path. PwC says participants meet future CPAs and PwC professionals, explore career possibilities and learn how a CPA license can be used across different career paths.
The application gate is materially stronger than Engineer Your Career. PwC says students need to receive and accept a qualifying 2028 internship offer before they can receive a Destination CPA invitation. The current page also says applicants must complete an assessment for the 2028 internship application and that the application is not complete until the assessment is finished. PwC recruits many opportunities on a rolling basis and tells students to apply as soon as possible.
The reviewed Destination CPA page contains one eligibility inconsistency that should not be silently resolved. Its “How to apply” section names Audit, Tax, Digital Assurance & Transparency, Capital Markets Accounting & Advisory Services and Financial Due Diligence internships as qualifying offers. A later eligibility bullet says students must receive an Audit or Tax Client Service internship offer. Because both statements appear on the same current employer page, use the exact 2028 internship posting and recruiter guidance to confirm whether a DAT, CMAAS or FDD offer qualifies for your invitation.

Treat the three-day experience as exposure and relationship building, not client-service employment
Engineer Your Career emphasizes interactive sessions, hands-on activities and conversations about engineering, AI and emerging technology. Destination CPA emphasizes learning, connection, CPA career exploration and conversations with PwC professionals. Those are useful experiences, but neither current program page describes three days of client-service employment.
That distinction matters on a résumé. If you attend, name the program accurately and describe a concrete workshop, activity, technical discussion or professional interaction you actually completed. Do not relabel the program as a PwC internship. If you later complete the separate 2028 internship, list that employment as its own experience.
PwC’s Advance page provides the contrast: Advance interns contribute to client work, receive coaching and build technical and professional skills through hands-on experiences. Use the employer’s own program labels rather than collapsing an event and an internship into one category.
Choose the 2028 internship first, then prepare for the event attached to it
For Engineer Your Career, start with the exact 2028 engineering internship. Confirm that your academic stage and major match the program page, then tailor your evidence to the internship itself. A project is stronger when you can explain what you built, the technical decision you made, how you tested it and what changed after the result.
For Destination CPA, the internship offer is the gate. Prioritize the exact Audit, Tax, DAT, CMAAS or FDD posting that fits your coursework and CPA plan, complete the required assessment promptly, and confirm the Destination CPA eligibility language attached to your route. Do not treat the three-day event as a substitute for winning the internship offer.
For both programs, do not wait for a generic “program application” if PwC is already recruiting the required 2028 internship. The current Destination CPA page explicitly says many roles recruit on a rolling basis. The current Engineer Your Career page also makes the 2028 internship application part of eligibility.
What is known now, and what still needs the invitation or exact internship posting
PwC says it will pay travel and accommodations for both three-day programs and requires participants to attend the full event. The employer pages say 2027 dates will be announced soon. They do not currently publish one event location, one application deadline, an event stipend, or a universal selection timeline.
PwC’s current recruiting policy also says the firm generally is not hiring entry-level candidates who need current or future H-1B lottery sponsorship, subject to stated exceptions. Destination CPA’s page specifically references exceptions tied to Chinese, Japanese and Korean Business Network roles. Apply the sponsorship rule from the exact 2028 internship requisition to your situation rather than assuming the event page creates separate work authorization.
After the event, the credible next step remains the 2028 internship attached to the program. Engineer Your Career does not publish a guaranteed internship conversion on the reviewed page. Destination CPA begins only after the qualifying offer is already accepted, so the event should be understood as a post-offer student experience rather than a conversion mechanism.
