Find accounting roles that match the work

Search for “audit intern,” “tax intern” or “accounting intern” rather than treating every accounting role as the same experience. Use employer careers pages and your campus recruiting service alongside the listings here.

Check the actual role’s enrollment requirements, work location and application dates. An insight event or part-time student program has different terms from a full-time internship; the employer examples below help you tell them apart.

Recorded accounting routes to compare

Compare accounting work, completed cohort examples and a post-offer CPA event without treating them as interchangeable internships.

These dated references describe broader internship programmes, a completed cohort and a post-offer event. They do not confirm currently open accounting roles. Keep the source-check date with each reference and verify the exact employer route before applying.

  2. Devon Energy · Recorded internship programme

Internship program and Fall 2026 campus recruiting

The dated Devon overview lists Accounting & Tax among its internship functions.

    Eligibility and recorded status

The standing internship page does not publish one universal class year, degree, major, graduation window, work-authorization rule, sponsorship policy, GPA threshold, or application deadline for every Devon internship. The campus schedule labels disciplines by school, but those labels are recruiting-focus information rather than universal eligibility rules. Use the current requisition and KING MAKER-backed InternshipDeadlines record for exact requirements.

The recorded August 26–September 30, 2026 campus dates are past recruiting events, not internship deadlines.

  3. Credo Technology Group · Completed Summer 2026 cohort

Summer 2026 intern experience across technical and business teams

The completed Summer 2026 class included Accounting alongside technical and other business teams.

    Eligibility and recorded status

The retrospective does not publish one company-wide degree, class-year, GPA, graduation-window, citizenship, sponsorship, or work-authorization rule. Those requirements belong to each live requisition. Students should use the retrospective to understand the range of work, then use the current posting and KING MAKER-backed InternshipDeadlines record for actual eligibility.

Completed Summer 2026 cohort; the retrospective does not establish a future opening.

Invitation requires an accepted qualifying 2028 internship offer. “How to apply” lists Audit, Tax, DAT, CMAAS and FDD; the eligibility bullet lists Audit or Tax Client Service only. Which track gives you the work you want to try?

Public accounting, internal accounting and auditing serve different purposes. Use this comparison to read a posting and ask about the intern's actual assignment. The same employer can recruit into several tracks.

Work through an accounting example

A reconciliation you can explain in an interview

In this fictional example, the bank statement shows $12,400 and the company's cash ledger shows $12,650. The ledger already includes a $900 deposit that has not reached the bank statement and $700 of checks that have not cleared. The bank statement includes a $50 fee that has not reached the ledger.

Bring both records to the same basis
Bring both records to the same basis
AdjustmentBank sideLedger side
Starting balance$12,400$12,650
Deposit in transit+$900Already recorded
Outstanding checks−$700Already recorded
Unrecorded bank feeAlready reflected−$50
Adjusted balance$12,600$12,600

Why the adjustments belong on different sides

The deposit and outstanding checks explain timing differences in the bank's record; they are already in the ledger. The fee is already in the bank balance but missing from the ledger. Subtracting it from both sides would count it twice. A reconciliation needs supported adjustments, not merely matching totals.
Investigate an unresolved difference

What to do when the balances still disagree

Change only the deposit in transit to $890. The adjusted bank balance becomes $12,590, while the adjusted ledger remains $12,600. The $10 difference is unresolved. The data do not tell you which record is wrong.

Keep the original amounts, formulas and source references. Check the deposit evidence, outstanding-check list and ledger entries. Changing $890 to $900 just to make the workpaper balance would hide the question the reconciliation is supposed to find.

For your own application, choose a real course, club or employment example involving a checked total or conflicting records. Explain the difference, the evidence you examined and what remained unresolved. Coursework does not need to be called a professional audit to demonstrate care.

Compare recruiting routes

Choose a recruiting route that fits your calendar

PwC's Advance program is a route into client work with training and coaching. Caterpillar has a separate paid part-time student program that includes accounting and finance and depends on proximity to a facility. Inspect the practice, office and working term before treating either as a suitable offer.

RSM Explore is different: a one-day virtual introduction to assurance, tax and consulting, not an internship. Use it to investigate a practice, not as a substitute for paid work.

For an actual placement, check the advertised graduation window, academic requirements and hours. When a role asks about CPA eligibility, answer the stated requirement for the relevant jurisdiction rather than assuming an internship title establishes a universal rule.

Evaluate supervision and feedback

Look for feedback you can use on the next assignment

Ask: After someone reviews my work, will I see the corrections and get to try the process again? A repeating reconciliation or testing assignment can teach a great deal when you understand the review. Repeating an unexplained task teaches less.

Compare the actual term and schedule alongside pay. For a spring placement, establish which working hours conflict with classes. In your interview, explain one calculation clearly before listing every software package you have encountered.
