Read the action, not just the date.
This selected calendar combines September 16 source observations with explicitly marked October 1 rechecks. It is not a complete list or a live vacancy feed. Passed windows are history, approximate openings remain approximate, and references can have a different deadline from the applicant’s form. Open the official route and individual guide before acting.
| Program | Date or window | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| NASA Spring 2027 Pathways | September 21–25, 2026 | Ended. The reviewed Pathways window is not an upcoming application or an OSTEM deadline. |
| DOE Spring 2027 SULI / CCI | September 30, 2026, 5 p.m. Eastern | Ended. Applicants and recommendations shared this cutoff; do not treat a later offer date as an application opening. |
| DOE Summer 2027 SULI / CCI | October 14, 2026–January 6, 2027, 5 p.m. Eastern | Announced window, not open at October 1 check. Recommendations included; dates tentative. |
| NASA Summer / Fall 2027 OSTEM | March 1 / May 24, 2027, 11:59 p.m. Eastern | October 1 recheck replaces the earlier February 26 / May 21 dates. Exact project availability still needs checking. |
| NREIP Summer 2027 | September 15–November 30, 2026, 11:59 p.m. Central | 2027 cycle named on homepage; FAQ supplies closing time. References may arrive within 14 days after closing. |
| CSHL URP 2027 | January 15, 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time | Application-open notice and 2027 cohort verified. The deadline line omits the year; confirm January 2027 in the portal before relying on it. |
| NOAA Hollings class of 2027 | September 1, 2026–January 31, 2027 | Announced scholarship application period, not a direct summer 2027 internship application. Exact closing time not established here. |
| NOAA Lapenta 2027 | October 1, 2026 | Application opening announced; exact next closing date not confirmed by the homepage. |
| Princeton PIT-SF 2027 | By mid-October / October 1, 2026 | October 1 recheck: official opening notices conflict. January 10, 2027 deadline; no exact time. Verify form availability. |
| Outreachy December 2026 | October 5–November 2, 2026 | Contribution and final-application period for approved initial applicants only; final cutoff 16:00 UTC. |
| DAAD RISE Germany 2027 | October 15–November 30, 2026 | Applicant window; closes 23:59 CET on November 30. |
| DAAD RISE references | December 15, 2026 | Separate reference deadline, not extra time for the applicant’s form. |
| Michigan-CERN REU 2027 | Late November 2026 | Portal opening announced; exact day and application deadline not confirmed here. |
| NCAR SIParCS 2027 | Around November 3, 2026 | Applications expected. Official closing-date conflict: January 19 versus January 20, 2027. Resolve using the actual posting. |
| Getty Marrow at Getty | November 2026 | Next-cycle opening announced. Remaining January 21 instructions are explicitly 2026, not a confirmed 2027 cutoff. |
| LA County Bloomberg Arts, high school | March 2027 | Student applications announced; not the county college internship route. |
| LA County Arts, college students | Position list begins April 1, 2027 | Apply directly to participating hosts. October 8, 2026 is the organizations’ grant deadline, not a student deadline. |
Date-only information stays date-only. Where a program provides a time zone, retain it. Where a page only announces an approximate opening, do not turn that into an exact appointment or an invented closing date.

Keep closed entry stages and unconfirmed cycles out of “apply now.”
Outreachy’s December-round initial application closed August 31, 2026. GSoC’s 2026 contributor application closed March 31. Later project work or evaluation dates do not reopen those entry stages. A student who missed them needs a later eligible round or another option, not a reminder for the wrong milestone.
| Situation | Do this instead |
|---|---|
| Initial application already closed | Check a future eligible cycle or another opportunity; do not jump to a later stage. |
| Only an opening month is announced | Set a personal source-check target and label it as your reminder. |
| Page still describes 2026 | Prepare reusable evidence, then verify the new cycle when announced. |
| Referee has a later deadline | Submit your own materials on time and track the reference separately. |
| Date lacks time or zone | Check the actual application instructions; do not assume your local midnight. |
| Page is a host-organization grant | Use the student position list and apply to the actual host, not the grant form. |
| Official pages give conflicting dates | Retain both observations and ask for clarification; use an earlier personal target without calling it an official deadline. |
The Caltech application page names SURF 2027, a November 1 opening and a March 1 deadline. Interpreting those month-and-day references as November 2026 and March 2027 is consistent with the stated cycle, but the page does not spell out the year beside each date or an exact closing time. Confirm through the opened portal rather than silently upgrading the interpretation into more precise evidence.
Amgen’s U.S. host table and the reviewed MIT MSRP pages still carry 2026 dates. MLH’s next applicable date depends on the cohort. Those are useful programs to investigate, but this calendar does not manufacture a confirmed 2027 deadline for any of them.
The LA County October host-grant deadline and the later student application route serve different audiences. Library of Congress pages also give conflicting next-opening projections, while Gold Rising still publishes 2026 instructions. Do not promote any of these into an exact new student deadline without the applicable announcement.
NASA deadlines belong to the route and session.
NASA’s reviewed September 21–25 Pathways application window for a January 25, 2027 start has ended. Its position and center-selection instructions remain useful background for understanding that route; they do not establish another opening. For OSTEM, use the October 1 deadline check above and the selected STEM Gateway project.
Use the current announcement’s qualifications, documents and evaluation instructions. Keep its application confirmation tied to the role. A profile in a different NASA system or an application to OSTEM is not proof of a Pathways submission.
For planning, identify the eligible announcement first, then prepare the documents it actually requests. Do not spend the short window building a general NASA essay that the form never asks for. The existing NASA comparison guide explains the separate routes and should remain the main reference for that distinction.

Work backward from dependencies, not a generic “apply” reminder.
For each serious option, identify the step that depends on somebody else. A reference, transcript request or mentor agreement may need more lead time than your own writing. Record the responsible person, required system and a personal target earlier than the official deadline. Do not describe your internal target as the program’s deadline.
Application-calendar record
An original RISE planning example has the applicant finish project selection, request an eligible reference and complete their own application before the November cutoff. The later referee deadline is a separate check, not a reason to delay the first submission. If a reference is missing, the next action is a focused follow-up through the relevant process, not another generic calendar alarm.
Keep the plan small enough to act on. A shortlist of five programs with verified eligibility and next actions is often more useful for planning than fifty names with copied dates. Do not give every option the same priority. Put first the feasible applications whose required work or dependencies are due soon.
Choose the right action for your current stage.
If you meet an upcoming program’s essential conditions, prepare the exact missing item. If you are waiting for a portal to open, gather reusable evidence and put a source-check target in your own calendar. If you missed an entry stage, move the program out of your immediate application queue. These actions are different, and your tracker should show the difference.
When new information appears, update the record rather than simply adding another reminder. Preserve the earlier observation and note what changed: date, eligibility, documents or availability. A later check should make the next action clearer, not overwrite uncertainty with a confident but unsupported deadline.
The purpose of this calendar is to help you finish appropriate applications on time. It should not create urgency for ineligible programs, imply that every listing is open, or pressure you to fill every week with unpaid preparation. Use the linked guides to make the decision, then use the official application to act.
