Make the education section understandable at a glance
Harvard recommends clear, consistent résumé presentation. For a transfer student, the practical goal is to make the institution, credential and date belong together.
Original fictional example for a student already enrolled at the new university:
Example University — B.S. in Information Systems, expected May 2029
Example Community College — A.S., awarded May 2026; GPA 3.70/4.00
If you did not earn the associate degree, replace it with an accurate description such as 'Coursework in business and mathematics, August 2024–May 2026'. If admission is confirmed but enrollment has not begun, label that future status rather than presenting yourself as already enrolled.

A prior GPA is not your new university GPA
In the example, 3.70 belongs to the community college. If the student has not received university grades, there is no current-university GPA to average with it.
For a required numeric field, use an accurate not-yet-available option or ask support. Message: 'I transferred this term and do not have grades at my current university yet. The form requires a current-institution GPA. Should I provide my prior college GPA in a separate field or submit the prior transcript?'
Use a degree plan, not a credit-count guess
Confirm the expected graduation date with your current degree plan. Transferred credits may not all meet the requirements you still need, so the total credit count alone does not determine the completion date.
Compare that date with the posting's graduation window. When 'junior' or 'senior' is undefined, explain your expected date and current status in one question. Do not choose a different class year merely because a form lacks a transfer-student option.
Upload the records the application asks for
Check whether the employer wants all institutions, the current institution only, official transcripts or unofficial copies. A new-school transcript listing transfer credit may not contain the prior grades a program requests.
Use clear file names, such as Lastname-PriorCollege-UnofficialTranscript.pdf. If a portal allows only one file but requires both records, follow its combination instructions or ask support; do not silently omit one school.
When your enrollment or graduation date changes, use the portal's update process or recruiting contact. Creating another application can leave two inconsistent records.
Keep relevant work and references from the prior school
You do not need to discard a strong project because it happened before the transfer. Label its course, institution and date. A reference from the prior school can also be appropriate when that person observed the required work and the program accepts that reference type.
A transfer explanation can be one sentence: 'I completed my associate degree at [college] and am now pursuing [degree] at [university], with expected graduation in [date].' Use the remaining space for the work relevant to the internship.
