Closed applications and the recorded academic window

The official Emerging Leaders page checked October 18, 2026 says applications are closed. It retains the Fall 2026–Spring 2027 cohort and the December 2028–June 2029 graduation window. No later application cycle is established by that page.

At the September 22, 2026 check, Goldman Sachs listed applications as open through Sunday, October 4, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. The recorded program runs across Fall 2026–Spring 2027 for undergraduate and master's students graduating December 2028 through June 2029.

Emerging Leaders prepares students for future internship opportunities through business-specific training, interview preparation, networking and engagement with Goldman professionals. It is not a summer-internship requisition and does not guarantee an interview or offer.

Choose the track before writing your explanation

Start with the kind of work you want to understand, then choose evidence from your own experience that makes that interest credible. A firm-wide answer about prestige does not explain why you selected engineering rather than research, markets, operations or risk.

Questions that test your track fit
DirectionEvidence you can useQuestion to answer
Research or investingA comparison or recommendationWhich assumption would change your conclusion?
Risk, controls or operationsAn error investigation or process changeWhat failure were you preventing, and how did you know the fix worked?
EngineeringA program, debugging example or data pipelineWhat trade-off did you make between correctness, performance and complexity?

For research or investing, you might use a comparison of two businesses or a data-supported recommendation. For risk, controls or operations, use an error investigation or process you made easier to check. For engineering, use a working program, debugging example or tested data pipeline.

Check the facts that can invalidate an otherwise good application

Use your expected graduation month and year, not an informal class label. If your degree path is unusual, present the actual dates and ask for clarification rather than changing the résumé date to fit the published window.

Before submitting, verify that the selected track matches your written explanation, the résumé is the intended version and every project claim is yours. Save the confirmation and the exact program or application identifier.

For the recorded October 4 cutoff, 11:59 p.m. Eastern was 10:59 p.m. Central. For a future confirmed cycle, set your own completion target earlier than the employer's stated deadline.

Keep the program and internship processes separate

If selected, confirm the attendance dates, office, track and any separate recruiting steps. Do not infer compensation, travel support or an internship interview sequence from another Goldman Sachs program.

Use the program to sharpen what you want to learn about the work. Ask what a junior person actually produces, how that work is reviewed and what a strong first draft looks like. Then carry that information into the later internship process rather than listing attendance as if it were employment.
