A separate HKSI Institute Student Membership application is already open through October 13. Case Competition applicants can use the current HKD100 special offer, subject to membership approval. HKSI requires membership applicants to upload evidence showing their full name, full-time undergraduate status and expected graduation year and month; the HKD100 application fee is non-refundable if the membership application fails.
This is not an internship application. The useful output is the work produced through the sponsor project and later case round, plus advancement or placement only if it actually happens.

Eligibility is tied to HKSI student membership and a listed institution
HKSI's current eligibility graphic says every student participant must be an HKSI Institute Student Member and a full-time undergraduate pursuing a bachelor's degree. It lists participating higher-education institutions in Hong Kong plus selected universities in the Greater Bay Area.
The listed Hong Kong institutions include universities such as HKU, CUHK, HKUST, CityU, PolyU, Baptist University, Lingnan and others. The Greater Bay Area list includes institutions such as CUHK Shenzhen, HKU Business School Shenzhen Campus, Shenzhen University, Sun Yat-sen University, University of Macau and others. Use HKSI's live list rather than assuming another institution is eligible.
The current public page does not publish a minimum GPA, required major, prior internship threshold or work-authorization rule. The degree-stage, institution and membership gates are the rules that are actually stated.

The program creates two different work products before the final
During the coaching period from November 23 through January 20, matched teams engage with a Project Sponsor and complete one project over roughly two months. Project Sponsors select a “Best Performer” to advance to the semifinal round.
Semifinalists then receive a separate one-month case-study phase from January 28 through March 1. Judges select the top six teams as finalists. The final on March 24 is a physical panel interview used to determine final ranking, with results announced at the award presentation that day.
Preserve the distinction between stages on a resume. Completing a sponsor project is different from becoming a semifinalist, finalist or winner. Do not claim an advancement result before HKSI publishes it.

You can enter with a team or ask HKSI to form one
HKSI's current program overview allows students to form their own team of three or four members or apply individually and have HKSI form a team. Team applications also indicate a Project Sponsor preference.
If you are not already an approved HKSI Student Member, treat the membership application as a real gating step rather than a formality. Upload the requested proof of full-time undergraduate status and graduation timing, and do not assume paying the HKD100 fee guarantees approval.
The competition application itself is scheduled to open September 24. Recheck the live page when the link appears because HKSI reserves the right to update competition details.

The credible signal is judged finance work, not an employer title
A strong recruiting story can come from the finance/digital-transformation problem you solved, the analysis you personally contributed, the Project Sponsor feedback you received and any later advancement. Those are concrete items an interviewer can ask about.
Keep the relationship accurate. “HKSI Institute Case Competition 2027 — Participant” is a defensible label after you actually participate; add semifinalist, finalist or placement only when official. A Project Sponsor relationship does not make you that sponsor's employee or intern.
HKSI's current participant page discusses prizes but does not publish one fixed 2027 cash-prize schedule in the visible text. It also does not promise a universal internship interview, job offer or paid placement. Do not import those outcomes from a prior cohort or sponsor-specific announcement.

Apply now if eligible, then keep finance recruiting separate
If you meet the institution and student-status rules, resolve HKSI Student Membership first and be ready for the competition application when it opens September 24. The closing date is October 13, so the membership approval process should not be left to the final day.
Continue applying to actual finance, analytics, consulting and technology internships while the competition runs. Use the sponsor project and case study as evidence after you have completed the work rather than waiting until March to start recruiting.
